Navigator Recruiting client is seeking an Accounting Services Senior to work with a variety of clients in its Downtown Denver office. The ideal candidate is one who is a “big picture” thinker, business minded, who is focused on client-service with a "nothing is beneath me" attitude and who may be on track to be a Controller. Responsibilities
The Accounting Services Senior in the Tax department is an exciting client-facing opportunity in a growing practice. The position reports directly to the Tax Accounting Services Manager, who is someone who can groom, mentor and develop people very well. This role is responsible for entering, reconciling, and maintaining the financial records for a variety of clients. QuickBooks is heavily used along with other client and practice management software. Weekly hours are less than typical “busy season hours” as they should be in the 40s year-round, with possibly a couple weeks in the 50s and maybe one week in the 60s in January – the one-month “busy season” for this job.

Duties include:
  • Prepare cash and tax basis financial statements for clients across multiple industry sectors 
  • Actively participate in client meetings and maintain professional relationships with clients and consult with them regularly concerning financials statements 
  • Assist in design and setup of custom accounting systems and solutions for clients  
  • Identify opportunities to improve the client’s operation outside of the scope of the current assignment  
  • Manage multiple tasks, prioritize time and communicate potential conflicts to supervisor  
  • Demonstrate flexibility and take responsibility for accomplishing tasks  
  • Accounts Payable Processing and Review: Process payments to vendors, monitor cash flow and assist client in setup of Accounts Payable system  
  • Accounts Receivable Processing and Review: Create and post invoices, process customer payments 
  • General Ledger: Review and setup custom Chart of Accounts, account reconciliations, adjusting journals entries, acquisition and disposal of assets  
  • Preparation of payroll and contractor W2 and 1099 reporting, setup of Payroll systems  
  • Sales tax: rates, collection requirements, filing requirements, reconcile sales tax reports to general ledger postings, proper application of credit memos and adjustments 
  • Property tax: prepare and file property tax returns within filing requirements  
  • Review of staff prepared financials and work papers  
 
Requirements
  • BS degree in Accounting or some accounting course work is preferred  
  • Advanced QuickBooks knowledge with payroll and sales tax experience including W2s and 1099s
  • 3-5 years’ experience in accounting and full financial statement preparation  
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment  
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills 
  • Desire to train, coach and mentor staff  
  • Ability to interact with and gain the respect of all levels of internal and client personnel  
  • Possess qualities of professional demeanor, positive attitude, self-initiative, decisiveness and high energy with the ability to work independently and within a team 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and take responsibility for getting the job done in a timely and cost effective manner
