Navigator Recruiting client is a progressive growing 15 employee CPA firm based in San Diego, CA, with a national and international niche of many clients in the ecommerce arena. This firm was ahead of it's time in that all employees have been working remotely for the 18 years the firm has been in existence, so the firm has worked out all kinks in remote working arrangements and understands how to be successful in this environment. The firm is mainly seeking someone with 5+ years' public accounting tax return preparation experience and ideally some review experience to prepare and review individual and business tax returns. Job duties include:
  • Preparing and reviewing complete and accurate personal and business tax returns to include compliance with applicable tax regulations using allowable deduction, credits and strategies to minimize tax obligations
  • Reviewing data input, as well as identifying and resolving technical tax issues
  • Reviewing client’s books, and participating in any cleanup work necessary
  • When requested by clients, performing cash flow planning/projections, preparation of working trial balances, adjusting journal entries, general ledger work, and tax accruals for stand-alone returns
  • Assisting in the quality control review process and providing feedback when necessary
  • Developing and updating tax planning for all clients throughout the year
  • Providing regularly scheduled advice to clients on accounting, business and tax matters
  • Pro-actively following all processes that the firm developed for handling current, returning and new clients
  • Becoming your clients trusted advisor on all tax and accounting matters
  • Continuously work on improving your skills and abilities
  • Learning and mastering all office software to your highest potential
  • Working as a team with all staff members, and provide & receive feedback as necessary
  • Working efficiently and proactively according to firm priorities
  • Performing other duties as needed to support the tax team
Required Skills & Experience:
  • CPA, CPA eligible or Enrolled Agent certification; including current PTIN
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping and tax
  • In-depth understanding of taxation for all types of tax returns
  • Minimum of five years’ experience completing and reviewing individual and business tax returns
  • Tax planning and support
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all clients 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage several clients
  • Excellent software skills including Excel and QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
  • Experience with UltraTax is helpful but not required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be reliable and detail-oriented
