The Senior Accountant - Tax supports the Sales Tax Supervisor and the Senior Accounting Manager - Tax by ensuring the timely and accurate filing of tax returns and related research, review, analysis, preparation, and account reconciliations. Specific tax compliance areas could include but are not limited to: corporate income, federal excise, sales and use, gross margin, SMM (Special Mobile Machinery), Texas heavy equipment, and Texas diesel surcharge.

  • Develops and directs maintenance of record-keeping system for compiling tax information
  • Prepares schedules as needed for annual audit and tax returns
  • Prepares and records journal entries
  • Answers calls from both internal and external customers
  • Researches and responds to various tax law questions
  • Takes lead role with audits, research, and other issues
  • Collects information and prepares various returns for the tax areas noted in the Position Summary
  • Ensures timely and accurate payment of tax liability
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts monthly
  • Involved with special tax-related projects

Required Education and Experience:
  • College Degree Required
  • CPA or Master’s degree in accounting or tax preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in corporate income tax or sales and use tax and related areas, including tax return preparation, filing and related data gathering and analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint knowledge
