Navigator Recruiting client is a stable successful company in the $500M - $1B revenue range operating domestically with an international component to its business as well. This could be a great opportunity for someone who is a current Tax Accountant in public accounting who has a desire for more work/life balance yet still grow and be challenged professionally. This individual will report directly to the Controller and work alongside the Controller, CFO, Vice President of Finance and also the Sales & Use Tax Team. The hired individual will support the Controller by ensuring the timely and accurate filing of tax returns and related research, review, analysis, preparation, and account reconciliations in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” Specific tax compliance areas could include but are not limited to: corporate income, federal excise, sales and use, gross margin, SMM (Special Mobile Machinery), Texas heavy equipment, and Texas diesel surcharge.This role will be a M-F 8-5 in-office role for the first 90 days - through training - and then after 90 days, the individual will have the choice to work from home 2 days/week or to work four 10-hour days in the office with every Friday off. Responsibilities
  • Developing and directing maintenance of record-keeping system for compiling tax information
  • Preparing schedules as needed for annual audit and tax returns
  • Preparing and recording journal entries
  • Supporting various accounting areas as needed
  • Participating in supporting business unit liaisons
  • Answering calls from both internal and external customers
  • Researching and responding to various tax law questions
  • Taking lead role with audits, research, and other issues
  • Collecting information and preparing various returns for the tax areas noted in the Position Summary
  • Ensuring timely and accurate payment of tax liability
  • Reconciling various general ledger accounts monthly
  • Involved with special tax-related projects
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • CPA or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Tax preferred
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in corporate income tax or sales, use tax, and related areas including tax return preparation, filing, and related data gathering and analysis
  • Client or industry experience in inventory, manufacturing, retail, mining or construction (or a similar industry) is helpful
  • Although this role works independently for the most part, the chosen individual should be a team player and have the ability to build relationships throughout the organization and use those relationships to obtain the information needed
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication ability
  • Must be proficient with MS Excel
