Tax Manager (100% Remote but Must Be in Colorado)

Navigator Recruiting client is a local reputable Denver, CO CPA firm of 5 full-time staff (who all work remotely), including 1 Partner/Owner (CPA, MBA); 1 Tax Senior; 3 Tax Accountants and 1 Office Manager. The owner is very easy-going, trusts his employees, is concerned for his employees' well-being and values communication. Tax clients are typically small businesses and individuals in metro Denver which have annual revenues less than $10M. The firm has experienced tremendous growth in clients over the past 4 years, so the partner is seeking to hire someone else to help him review tax returns and prepare some returns, mainly. This is not a managerial role. In this role, you would mentor and develop staff but not be responsible for managing staff. The firm is seeking someone to be located within the state of Colorado. Meetings with clients are rare but in those instances, the firm prefers to have someone still be somewhat local to be able to accomodate those requests. Responsibilities:

• Review of business tax returns and oversight of business accounting
• Preparation of moderately complex business tax returns
• The rest of the responsibilities could be tailored to the individual - and could entail some special projects, business development, or helping the owner in developing a back-office automation consulting service.
• The firm uses a cloud-based version of UltraTax and QuickBooks.
• You would have meetings with clients over videoconference and being able to communicate effectively is critical.

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting
• CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years' tax return preparation and review experience in public accounting is required
• UltraTax and QuickBooks experience are helpful but not required
