Navigator Recruiting client is a well-respected 12-employee CPA firm in Colorado Springs, Colorado offering tax and audit services to companies in and around the Colorado Springs area. The company is seeking a Tax Manager to mainly prepare some of the larger more complex multi-state tax returns for clients in various industries (construction, steel broker, distribution, auto service, etc.) There may be opportunities for this individual to review the work of other Staff Accountants. There is excellent tenure amongst employees. People stay here a long time because it’s truly an incredible place to work. The office closes at 1:00 pm on Fridays in the summer and the firm allows employees to work four 10-hour shifts in the summer if they’d like as well, so employees can have many 3-days weekends.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of mainly larger somewhat complex multi-state tax returns
- Clients are in a variety of industries including real estate, construction, manufacturing, professional services and other industries
- There may be an opportunity to review the returns prepared by Staff Accountants
- Tax software: UltraTax; Thompson Reuters Suite
- HOURS: 55-60 hrs/wk during busy season (2/1 – 4/15); 40 hrs/wk in non-busy season
Requirements
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- CPA
- 5+ years’ tax preparation experience in public accounting with experience preparing multi-state tax returns
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS and tax law is helpful
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Working knowledge of audit systems and Microsoft Office programs
- Strong analytical and creative skills
- Eagerness to continue learning and expanding professionally
