Growing & Longstanding Family-Owned Denver Business w/Excellent Reputation for Quality Work

Company Information
Navigator Recruiting client is a reputable 55-employee family-owned $15M Denver general contractor specializing in concrete work. The family has been serving Denver in this industry since the 1960s. The Owners have created a stable, healthy, positive work environment for employees. Growth has been consistent and this firm is seeking a forward-thinking proactive Controller to manage day-to-day accounting and be responsible for some human resources and operational/office duties - ultimately helping the Owners continue to move this company forward for decades more! The Owners are seeking someone who has been in a similar role, completing the financial statements for a construction company, using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Contractor and ideally someone who is also intuitive, has good initiative and understands the nuances around change orders, purchase orders, lien waivers, invoicing, managing a fleet of vehicles, worker's compensation, etc. There are no other employees in accounting. The position would not be responsible for managing anyone. This is a hands-on accounting role reporting directly to the Owners. The Controller will work in the office 3-4 days/week and can work from home 1-2 days/week as well. The Owners are very flexible. Benefits include the reimbursement of a medical insurance plan, a 401k (is currently being installed), 40 hours' vacation (accrued) in Year 1, 48 hours' additional PTO which rolls over into the next year, holidays and a lot of flexibility. The right candidate can choose to work from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, 8:00 am - 4 :00 pm, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, and the Owners - who have children - understand if the Controller needs to leave work to pick up a child from school...and the Owners are absolutely ok with the Controller finishing work from home later that evening, at the Controller's convenience. The work location has a very relaxing homey feel as it was a house and was converted into an office. There is a kitchen, television, etc. The Owners are also amenable to the Controller bringing a pet or a child into the office from time to time.
