Navigator Recruiting client is a fast-growing 100-employee financial services company with $1B AUM and multiple entities and offices in several states. Established in 1980, the firm has long-valued educating clients in ways to preserve and build their wealth. The company itself has grown by 37% over the last three years and plans to continue growing. For this reason, the firm is seeking to hire a Controller, a newly created role, to help lead the growing finance operations, report to the CFO and be a part of the Accounting team - who include the CFO (a CPA/MBA) and two Accountants - all in the DTC office. This position reports plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic business insight to support company growth.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Denver Tech Center (DTC) office. Hours are typically Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with some overtime possible at busier times.

NOTE: Only people who are currently living in Denver will be considered for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and month-end close.
  • Manage and mentor the Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the company’s cash position, including daily cash reporting and a rolling 13-week forecast.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and monthly variance analysis in partnership with department leaders.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Partner with auditors and tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Lead process improvements, automation projects, and system upgrades to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (multi-entity and/or financial services / advisory / wealth management industry experience is helpful).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (like QuickBooks Desktop, Bill.com and Fathom), financial modeling, and Excel (VLOOKUP and SUMIF).
  • Highly analytical, organized, and collaborative, with strong communication skills.
