Navigator Recruiting client is a local fast-growing progressive Boulder CPA firm of 30-40 full-time staff. The partners are concerned for employees' well-being and the office is a fun place to come to work every day. The firm was also set up on Zoom before COVID and the firm is accustomed to having employees working remotely or in a hybrid arrangement. There are challenging tax returns to prepare and review. SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE DESCRIPTION:
This firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior who has an entrepreneurial spirit and knows how to get things done. The ideal candidate is someone who will be laser focused on execution for an optimized result. This person must be willing to consult internally and externally to solve problems and be motivated to think outside the box to find solutions. It is critical to be able to work well in a team environment and to be able to give and receive coaching
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review complex U.S. and multi-state income tax returns for business entities, including C-corporations, S corporations, and partnerships
• Review complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns
• Preparing more complex tax returns
• Ensure the accuracy of staff prepared returns while providing constructive coaching to the team
• Coordinating and overseeing complex tax research and planning projects for clients in diverse industries
• Analyzing current/prior year returns to help identify future planning opportunities and potential issues
• Stay aware of general business trends to professionally represent and apply this knowledge to the client solutions
• Build the skills and knowledge that are necessary to become a Tax Manager
• Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices
• Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-5 years of experience in public accounting with emphasis in taxation, preferably in a regional or national firm
• CPA certification
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited college/university
• Significant supervisory experience (2+ years)
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Superb project management skills
• Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
• Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation
